Shelter Charity shops rely on a fantastic team of volunteers to keep things buzzing. Without them, these shops might have to hit pause, so finding ways to attract more volunteers became crucial. Enter me.
While volunteering is all about doing good, there are heaps of personal perks too. Whether it's about having a blast, finding a new BFF, or honing skills while changing the world, there's something for everyone. So whatever you’re ‘In It For,’ you’re in it for Shelter.
We provided Shelter charity shops with a suite of materials they could display inside shops, on the shop windows, and around the local community to encourage volunteers to sign up. The reasons for volunteering were light-hearted and taken from interviews conducted with existing staff. To infuse the campaign with a more personal touch, we incorporated the handwriting of Shelter retail staff into the posters. This aimed to emphasize that, no matter what your reason for volunteering, you are a good fit and welcome to work there. I helped put together a range of assets like posters, tent cards, stickers, and even a flyer that shops could hand out to anyone interested in joining the team. This campaign was hugely successful and resulted in many new volunteers. The work keeps coming back in shops as and when they need more volunteers.
